The LSF had a highly successful evening at the 2019 Leeds Sports awards where Stalwarts Liz Wilson and Steve Boothroyd were both recognised for outstanding dedication and contribution to Leeds sport.
Liz, joint winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award, is a self confessed tennis fanatic, who developed from a successful player (at Rawdon Golf and Tennis Club) to become a professional coach in the 1970s when she taught at schools in the Leeds District. Later she became a regional tennis performance coach and more recently has represented Leeds on the Yorkshire LTA Council. In 1987 she began to support the wider development of sport in Leeds by joining the Leeds Sports Federation (acting as Chair between 2001 and 2013).
Rugby League lover Steve was highly commended in the ‘Service to PE and School Sport category’. His successful professional teaching career began at Holt Park primary and concluded recently on his retirement as Headmaster of Adel Primary School. An enthusiastic rugby league coach, referee and administrator Steve is a previous winner of the John Holmes award for service to Rugby League.
